The 2023 National Mountain Bike Championships concluded on Sunday in Kentville, Nova Scotia, with the Team Relay. A strong field of 14 team signed up, including both provincial composite squads and trade teams. A further nine teams raced in the Challenge class. Each riders did two laps of a modified XCC course.

The Pivot-OTE team of Vincent Thiboutot, Mathis Duval, Rafaelle Carrier, Peter Disera won a tight battle with defending champions Team Ontario (Tyler Clark, Owen Clark, Elli Clark, Cole Punchard). Team Alberta 1 (Logan Sadesky (did two turns), Nico Knoll, Francis Graham) took third.

Ontario opened very strongly, taking a good lead with their first two riders. However, Pivot-OTE began to battle back with the third rider, and the two teams went into the final neck-and-neck, Disera for Pivot-OTE and Punchard for Ontario. It came down to the final 75 metres, with Disera able to get to the front in the final corner and outkick his rival to the line.

"They [Relays] aren't a high pressure event, and I wanted to have a good day today after not doing well yesterday [in the XCO]," said Disera. "There's a lot of single track, and I figured it would be just easier to lead, and if I saw any weakness, just go full in. In the seven minutes that we raced we traded the lead probably seven times, so it was super exciting. Apparently he hadn't hit the finish jump all week; I had, but not at speed. Raph Auclair [his team mate] went from fourth to second in the XCC by launching it at the finish, so I did that and was able to get around Cole on the outside."
